The NATURELAB team was happy to cooperate with the SuperiorMente project by disseminating and demonstrating nature-based therapeutic approaches. SuperiorMente is an ongoing project focused on the mental health of higher education students in Portugal, with the aim of providing practical tools so that students can face academic and personal challenges more effectively, promoting emotional well-being and resilience in their personal and professional lives.

The session held together with the SuperiorMente project took place in the 3rd of April 2025 at the João de Deus Higher School of Education (Portugal, Lisbon) that graduates future teachers, and at a nearby urban garden, Jardim da Estrela.

Having started with a warm welcome by the João de Deus Higher School of Education Director Prof. Filomena Moreira da Silva, a brief introduction to the project was made by the coordinators Ana Estela Barbosa and Margarida Rebelo (LNEC) and Alex Gesse (FTHub). The students where then guided for a practical introduction to what a Nature-based therapeutic session may look like.

By encouraging moments of relaxation and reconnection with the environment, this sort of activities plays a significant role in promoting the importance of nature for the sustainability of the territory and for the health and well-being of the population, particularly mental health.
